¿ªÔÆÌåÓý plans sixth annual McGraw-Hill Poster Contest
The sixth annual ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý McGraw-Hill poster contest will be held on†Friday, April 26 at 9:30 a.m. in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The contest is open to all ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý and area high school students.â€
Those who wish to enter should submit a 75+ word abstract to Dr. Andrew Yox, ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Honors Director, by April 24.

LRC sponsors Edible Book Contest
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý hosted the first annual Edible Book Contest Monday, April 1. There were a total of 16 entries in the contest, which challenged participants to depict a favorite book through edible art.â€

CAPPED event brings high school seniors to ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Communities In Schools (CIS) brought about 240 high school students to the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý campus on March 21†for CAPPED (Certificate and Professional Programs Exploration Day).â€
CAPPED @ ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý †is a program designed to bring high school students to ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý to learn about programs available to expedite their entry into professional careers in the workplace.†It also allows ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý faculty to showcase their programs.

Noah Griffin receives Caldwell Award for Texas History essay
At the recent Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) conference in Fort Worth, ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý honors student Noah Griffin won first place in the Caldwell Award competition for the best essay in Texas History.†He received a $400 award for the honor, topping all peers in the college/university, freshman/sophomore level.†Steve Cure, the Director for Educational Services of the TSHA, remarked that there was an especially crowded field of entries this year.

Phi Theta Kappa presents report at March board meeting
Dr. Melissa Weinbrenner, advisor for the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, presented a report to the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý board of trustees Tuesday night. She shared that ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý's Alpha Mu Chi Chapter recently won 19 awards at the 2013 Texas Regional Convention in Dallas in addition being elected District III Vice President. Four students were in attendance at the board meeting during the report. J.T. and Kaye Brison sponsor As You Like It
J.T. and Kaye Brison recently presented a check to Carolyn Franks (right), Director of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý, to sponsor the upcoming performance of Shakespeare's†As You Like It. The national tour of the play, by the prestigious Acting Company of New York, will be presented one night only on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center.
