¿ªÔÆÌåÓý held its December 2013 commencement at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts Friday, Dec. 13. A total of†105 students were awarded associate degrees and 69 earned certificates of competency in their chosen fields. Gerran Peoples of Pittsburg gave the commencement address. Jimmy Smith (pictured) of Mount Pleasant delivered the student response.
Peoples was born and raised in Pittsburg and is the son of Carolyn K.
Presidential Scholars present panel at NCHC
†††¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Presidential Scholars recently presented an entire panel (for the first time) at the National Collegiate Honors Council devoted to a singular practice at ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý?making feature-length films of figures of regional significance.††The panelists, all sophomores of ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Honors, discussed the reasons for making films, the essential elements of making such films possible, and exhibited various clips of the recent film on Wright Patman that is being assembled.

Bill Priefert leaves ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý board confident in college's future
Bill Priefert recently indicated that he will resign from the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Board of Trustees. His resignation letter was accepted at the December board meeting Thursday night.†The board adjourned without taking action on an agenda item calling to appoint someone to fill the unexpired term of Place 6, which Priefert filled for 11 years.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý bad weather procedure
It is that time of year when the weather can be unpredictable in this area. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý wants to make sure that all students and employees have access to timely, accurate information regarding possible weather-related closures.
In case of bad weather, the decision to close or not will usually be made by 6 a.m. for day classes and by 3 p.m. for evening classes.
Charlie and Helen Hampton give scholarship
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Helen Hampton (right) recently gave $500 to the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Foundation. Their gift will provide a scholarship to a Morris County student attending ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý.
