Seven students †from the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Ag Club attended the Texas Junior College Agricultural Association (TJCAA) Convention at Texas A&M University-Kingsville April 3-5.† Dakota Hall won second place†in the Outstanding Student Award and received a $500 scholarship.† Ashley Surman finished second†in Prepared Speaking, third†in Job Interview, and fourth†in Ag Economics quiz.† Taylor Hammonds and Syke Talsma finished third†in Public Relations, and David Underhill, Jared Lowery, and Julie McCoin helped ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý win third†in Chapter Sweepstakes.

Melissa Weinbrenner named Phi Theta Kappa Faculty Scholar for second consecutive year

Dr. Melissa Weinbrenner,†¿ªÔÆÌåÓý history professor and Phi Theta Kappa advisor, has been chosen to serve as a Phi Theta Kappa 2013 Faculty Scholar. Only 25 community college instructors were selected from among nearly 3,000 chapter advisors to serve in this role.

The sixth annual ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý McGraw-Hill poster contest will be held on†Friday, April 26 at 9:30 a.m. in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The contest is open to all ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý and area high school students.†

Those who wish to enter should submit a 75+ word abstract to Dr. Andrew Yox, ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Honors Director, by April 24.

CAPPED event brings high school seniors to ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Communities In Schools (CIS) brought about 240 high school students to the ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý campus on March 21†for CAPPED (Certificate and Professional Programs Exploration Day).†

CAPPED @ ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý †is a program designed to bring high school students to ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý to learn about programs available to expedite their entry into professional careers in the workplace.† It also allows ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý faculty to showcase their programs.
