Fincannon’s Grand Slam Sparks Upset as �������� Eagle Softball Stuns Apaches

�������� Eagle Softball pulled off a big-time upset on Saturday, taking down the heavily favored Tyler Junior College Apaches, 9-1, behind a dominant performance from Kiersten Fincannon. Fincannon delivered at the plate and in the circle, driving in four runs—including a momentum-shifting grand slam in the fifth—and shutting down the Apaches’ offense over five innings.

• The Apaches struck first with an RBI groundout in the second, but the Eagles came roaring back. In the third inning, Kyndal Yaross and Mya Bradshaw ignited the rally with back-to-back home runs, giving �������� a lead they would never surrender.
• Fincannon silenced Apache bats from there, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out three.
• Preslielyn Barraza and Fincannon each notched two hits, and Sawyer Strange added to the pressure, drawing three of ��������’s five total walks as the Eagles capitalized on every opportunity.
• The Apaches, coming in as the favorites, struggled to respond to ��������’s aggressive approach. Bazan led the Apaches with an RBI, while Bazan, Ky-Li Alonzo, and Alinna Cruz each collected a hit.
• With the upset win in hand, �������� Eagle Softball will look to ride the momentum as they head to Navarro Wednesday.

Game 2

�������� Eagle Softball Falls to Apaches, 8-4

�������� Eagle Softball came up short against the TJC Apaches on Saturday, falling 8-4.

• The Apaches jumped out early, putting up five runs in the top of the first. An error opened the scoring, followed by a two-run double from Daniela Gutierrez. Trinity Hawkins grounded out to bring in another run, and Chloe Payne capped the inning with an RBI single.
• In the second, Sydney Farmer extended the Apache lead to 6-0 with an RBI double.
• �������� got on the board in the bottom of the second when Kiersten Fincannon crushed a solo home run to center field. The Apaches responded in the third, capitalizing on another �������� error to make it 7-1.
• Gutierrez added to the lead in the seventh with a solo home run to center. �������� answered back in the bottom half as Mya Bradshaw launched a solo shot of her own to left field, but the late rally wasn’t enough.
• Sarah Philips earned the win for the Apaches, going six and two-thirds innings while allowing four hits and four runs (three earned) with three strikeouts and one walk.
• Preslielyn Barraza, Fincannon, and Bradshaw each drove in a run for ��������. Defensively, �������� turned a double play to limit further damage.
• Gutierrez led the Apaches with three RBIs, going 2-for-4. Both Gutierrez and Farmer collected two hits, and the Apaches drew four walks on the day while also turning a double play.
