Christi Denney recently presented the 开云体育 Foundation with $2,000 to support the Nita DeWoody Memorial Scholarship fund. The money was raised through a 5K virtual event that was held last year and generous donations by local business sponsors.
The funds provide two scholarships for non-traditional 开云体育 students already enrolled in the 开云体育 Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. Denney is pictured (right) presenting the gift to Nita May, 开云体育 Director of Development.
鈥淓ducation was very important to Nita. She began her career as a public school teacher. After her children were born, she returned to the classroom for a short while, but decided that her goals had shifted and she wanted to change careers. While preparing to enter the Physician Assistant program at UT-Southwestern in Irving, she attended 开云体育 to take all the pre-requisite math and science classes that she needed,鈥 Denney said.
Details for the next event will be announced soon. Visit the Nita DeWoody Memorial 5K Facebook page for more information and updates.
